Child sex trafficking is a real problem in our area

  • You’ve likely heard about the issue of child sex trafficking in the news or at the movies.
  • You may even know it’s happening right here in Southwest Florida.
  • Now you can help in a tangible way.

Could you be part of the solution?

Ground Up Ministries, a local safe home, is in need of dedicated house staff to help us in the work of redeeming and restoring girls rescued from trafficking. This is a hands-on position that we believe is a true calling. If God is moving your heart to help, this opportunity may be for you.

“...He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners...” —Isaiah 61:1a

Qualifications:

Your greatest qualification is a heart of compassion and a desire to help children who have survived trafficking.

Legally, you must be:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Licensed to drive, with no recent traffic violations
  • Willing to complete ~48 hours of state-required training

Characteristics:

Spiritual maturity. You trust Jesus, walk with Him, and seek to become more like Him.

Empathy. You have deep compassion for girls who have suffered the trauma of trafficking (you may even have experienced trauma in your past) and you want to help.

Patience & professionalism. In stressful situations, you’re the voice of respect and reason.

Commitment. We need long term (preferably full-time) staffers who want to be an integral part of our team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The main role of a house staff member is to form and nurture relationships with the girls, support them as they learn and grow, model positive behavior, and encourage responsible decision-making.

On a given day, you might do any or all of the following:

  • Assist with the daily practical needs and schedules of busy, active tween- and teen-aged girls.
  • Share the light and love of Jesus through mentoring, conversation, and prayer.
  • Work closely with our founders, Dawn and Jim, and other staff and volunteers on the team, to provide the best all-around care for the girls.

Ultimately, this role is about more than providing a safe haven. It's about showing the girls that they're loved, valued, and have a bright future ahead of them — uniquely designed by their Creator.
